Dr. McKechnie graduated Cum Laude from Texas Chiropractic College in 1985 and he went on to teach at the institution from 1985 to 1996 and in 1999. While at TCC, Dr. McKechnie was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences and he served for several years as the Director of Postgraduate Studies and as Dean of Postgraduate Studies and subsequently the Dean of External Affairs for the college. Dr. McKechnie was appointed as the Chiropractic Representative to the Texas Worker’s Compensation Commission’s Medical Advisory Committee from 1991 through 1994 and he also served on the National Chiropractic Healthcare Advisory Committee to the Bill Clinton Administration in 1993 and 1994, which was an 11-member panel selected to work directly with the President's National Healthcare Policy Taskforce concerning chiropractic inclusion in any national health reform efforts. Dr. McKechnie left Texas Chiropractic College in 1996 to become the director of chiropractic services for a Houston-based chiropractic managed care organization and he served in that capacity for 2 years.

He received diplomate status in chiropractic neurology from the American Chiropractic Academy of Neurology in 1989 and he served as the President of the Academy from 1989 to 1991. Dr. McKechnie was also a member of the American Chiropractic Academy of Neurology’s examining board and he has served on the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis examination committee.

He is currently a fellow of the International Academy of Chiropractic Neurology. Dr. McKechnie is also a fellow of the International College of Chiropractors.  Dr. McKechnie received the "Doctor of the Year" award from Texas Chiropractic Association District 11 in 1992 and he was voted the Texas Chiropractic Association’s “Young Chiropractor of the Year” in 1993. Dr. McKechnie has been an active postgraduate lecturer and has conducted 297 postgraduate seminars, primarily in the field of chiropractic neurology and he has lectured in 26 different states for various chiropractic groups. He has also authored over 40 articles in the field of chiropractic neurology and was recently appointed to the Board of Regents of Texas Chiropractic College. Dr. Brad, along with his wife of 24 years, Dr. Julie McKechnie, has been in private practice at Nasa Chiropractic since 1999.
